About 30 minutes from the campsite, Lannion boasts a charming historic center. The town has 34 half-timbered houses, built during the golden age of Trégor between the 15th and 17th centuries.

Inspired by medieval and Renaissance architecture, these half-timbered houses combine wooden frames with corbelled floors. At the time, the ground floor was used for commercial purposes, while the upper floors served as living quarters. The corbelling allowed for more space without increasing the floor area... and therefore the tax bill.

On July 11, 1962, this antenna captured the first live television images transmitted by satellite from the United States via Telstar. It was the first transatlantic television link in Mondiovision. Brittany thus became a strategic hub for global telecommunications.

The site was chosen for its ideal geographical position facing the Atlantic and for its low level of electromagnetic interference at the time. Today, the Cité des Télécoms offers an educational tour on the history of communications: satellites, fiber optics, networks. It's the perfect visit to understand how a rural area of Brittany found itself at the heart of global innovation.

A few minutes from Camping Liberté Landrellec, the oyster farms of Lannion Bay form a discreet but essential part of the local economy. Here, Pacific oysters (Crassostrea gigas) are farmed on metal tables covered with bags, which are regularly turned to ensure uniform growth.

Oyster farming is based on technical, daily work: collecting spat, placing them in bags, turning them, and grading them. The salinity of the bay, the water temperature, and the abundance of plankton directly influence the quality of the oysters.

The "marine terroir" plays a decisive role. Oysters farmed in northern Brittany often develop firm flesh and a pronounced iodine taste, linked to the currents and minerality of the water.

From Camping Liberté Landrellec, the pink rocks immediately catch the eye. This distinctive color, emblematic of the Pink Granite Coast, has a very specific geological origin.

The granite was formed around 300 million years ago, when magma slowly cooled deep underground. This slow crystallization process allowed minerals visible to the naked eye to form: quartz, mica, and above all, potassium feldspar. It is the latter that gives the granite its pink hue, which varies in intensity depending on its concentration.

Just a few minutes from Camping Liberté Landrellec, Île Grande offers a wild getaway typical of the Pink Granite Coast. Connected to the mainland by a bridge, it is easy to explore on foot thanks to a 7 km coastal path that circles the island.

Pink rocks, small coves, open views of the sea: the landscape changes with the tides, revealing shells and seaweed on the foreshore at low tide. It is an accessible walk, ideal for families or for a sunset outing.

In Landrellec, nature is everywhere, and wildlife is an integral part of the landscape. Between the sea, the foreshore, the rocks, and the coastal paths, many animal species coexist, often discreet but easy to observe for those who take the time to look.

Seabirds are the most visible on the coast. Herring gulls, black-headed gulls, and cormorants dot the sky and rocks, especially at low tide. It is not uncommon to see them perched on islets or following the movements of the sea in search of food. Depending on the season, other migratory birds may also stop off on the coast.

At low tide, the foreshore becomes a real playground for exploration. Under the rocks and in the pools of water left by the sea, you can discover an abundance of small wildlife: crabs, periwinkles, barnacles, shrimp, and sometimes starfish. This biodiversity is fragile and plays an essential role in the balance of the coastline, hence the importance of observing without disturbing.

On land, walks around Landrellec also offer the chance to spot more elusive animals. Rabbits, hedgehogs, and small rodents can be found in vegetated areas, especially early in the morning or at the end of the day.

From Landrellec, the customs officers' path (GR34) offers some of the most beautiful walks along the Pink Granite Coast. This legendary trail runs close to the coastline, following the natural curves of the coast between granite rocks with surprising shapes, small sheltered coves, and wide panoramic views of the English Channel. At every turn, the landscape changes, carried by the light, the tides, and the Breton weather.

In Landrellec, aperitifs are enjoyed simply, facing the sea. Open a bottle of chilled Breton cider or craft beer, add some crusty bread and lightly salted butter, then top it off with seafood: oysters, shrimp, whelks, or seafood rillettes. Not much, but good quality products, and above all, the pleasure of taking your time.

To stock up, head to Trégor Coquillages et Crustacés, a stone's throw from Landrellec, renowned for its local oysters and direct sales. In Trébeurden, L'Atelier de l'Huître allows you to buy (or taste on site) oysters and shellfish in a setting right by the water. When it comes to fish, La Marée Trégastelloise is a safe bet to round off your aperitif. And depending on the day, the markets in Pleumeur-Bodou, Trégastel, or Perros-Guirec are perfect for stocking up on local produce before heading home to enjoy the evening.

The Pink Granite Coast is inseparable from its lighthouses. Standing facing the sea, sometimes on windswept rocks, they tell the story of a coastline long feared by sailors. Today, they punctuate walks and offer familiar landmarks for walkers.
